Are you thinking about booking a golfing break at the Roxburghe Hotel & Golf Course?

If you love the idea of experiencing a break at a championship golf course, with the opportunity to work in a few rounds in style, the Roxburghe Hotel can seem like a great choice, however, you’re probably still wondering exactly what you’ll get for your money.

I’ve heard some fabulous stories from our golfing guests who have experienced not only wonderful days out but also luxurious weekend breaks at Roxburghe, so I know it’s a popular choice – which is why I thought I’d take a closer look at just what you can expect.

In this blog post, I’m going to tell you more about some of the Roxburghe Hotel’s best features, other activities you can try during your stay, and also a little bit of background about the hotel and course itself.

Why stay at the Roxburghe Hotel?

Just a little more than an hour’s drive from Scotland’s capital, the Roxburghe combines top class accommodation with a championship golf course, award-winning dining and various other sporting pursuits – all surrounded by glorious countryside.

The Hotel and grounds have been dubbed “a labour of love” by the Duke of Roxburghe, and it’s easy to see why, with many personal touches coming from the Duke’s own residence.

The Roxburghe is the ideal location for a relaxing day out or weekend away, and is particularly popular if you love the outdoors, with plenty to do from archery, falconry and clay pigeon shooting, to salmon fishing, mountain biking and croquet – not forgetting the golf, of course!

Fancy a round or two?

Keith Morgan Head PGA professional at Hawick GC and Lowland Lettings’ golf ambassador loves this challenging course.

Designed by Dave Thomas and voted the fifth best inland golf course in Scotland, the Roxburghe course is surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the Scottish Borders – something Thomas has made full use of to create a fantastic golfing experience.

At over 7,000 yards long, this challenging par-72 championship course is definitely one to get your teeth into, and features those characteristically deep bunkers that the designer and former Ryder cup star is famous for.

With such beautiful grounds, you’ll find this well-kept course a joy to take your time over, however, golf buggies are also available to hire if you desire.
