When you first enter the property, you’ll find yourself in a bright, L-shaped hallway with bright walls and high ceilings. The first door on the right leads you to a double bedroom, featuring a double bed, bedside table and lamp, plus a dressing table, mirror and plenty storage space.
Further down the corridor, and on the left-hand side, you’ll find a closet that’s perfect for storing clothes, jackets and shoes. Continue along the hall, and again on your left, you’ll find a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area.
Again, the area is decorated in contemporary style, with a lovely, relaxing sea-theme reflected in the artwork upon the wall. This is a bright and airy space – with windows on two walls and also great high ceilings – that’s ideal for making a nice, homely meal.
Back out into the hall, and on your right-hand side (opposite the kitchen) you’ll find a large cupboard with a washing machine, iron, ironing board and additional storage for jackets.
Continue along the hallway, and straight ahead (before the bend) takes you into a large lounge area complete with two comfy sofas and some lovely personal touches. Again, because this is the end of the high street, there’s plenty of light coming in through windows on two walls.
Back out, and following the hall round, you’ll find a large bedroom on your left, again featuring bedside lamps, plenty of storage and a good-sized writing desk to conveniently sit a laptop on or to write your postcards.
Please note: This room houses a king-sized bed that can become twin beds if necessary (through the magic of zip-and-link), making this a very flexible accommodation to suit your needs.
Directly opposite this second bedroom, you’ll find another cupboard, providing plenty of storage space for hanging your clothes.
Straight at the end of the hall will take you to the shower room, again very contemporarily decorated, featuring a rainfall shower, mirror and plenty of cupboard space for storing toiletries. .
Known locally as ‘Sunny Dunny’ and located in East Lothian – officially the sunniest place in Scotland – Dunbar has its own beach (great for surfing!), harbour and seaport. Greco’s Close is based on the high street, where you’ll find a plethora of lovely independent shops, restaurants, cafes and bars (Dunbar’s famous for Belhaven beer!).
Greco’s Close looks out onto Dunbar Leisure Pool, but Dunbar is also close to Foxlake Adventure Park, which includes fun activities such as wakeboarding, a rope course, disk golf, and segways to hire!
Also in the near vicinity is East Links Family Park with its animal enclosures, train rides, go-karts, trampolines and bouncy castles – providing fun for all the family. Another option is to go in search of Glingbobs and Tootflits at Pressmennan Woods.
Or, you could just partake in a couple of relaxing rounds of golf at Dunbar Golf Club, if that sounds like more your style. Along the coast you’ll find a few more golf courses, many with stunning views of the sea and beaches.
Dunbar happens to be the birthplace of John Muir, and you can walk or cycle the famous John Muir Way route from Dunbar all the way to Helensburgh (which is the official starting point) – or vice versa! And another historical point of interest is Dunbar Castle, right on the harbour.
As we mentioned above, the property is located just a short distance from Dunbar train station, with just a short 30-minute (approx.) train or bus ride into Scotland’s capital city of Edinburgh – which makes for a fantastic day trip!
Upon arrival, you’ll discover a welcome gift and note, along with helpful information on some of the fun things to do and see in Dunbar and the surrounding area of East Lothian.
You’ll also have the telephone number and contact details for your host, should you need to contact them about anything at all during your stay.
Greco’s Close can become a real ‘home-away-from-home’, for a relaxed, peaceful and enjoyable stay that’s comfortable and convenient whilst you take full advantage of all that this lovely part of the world has to offer.
