If so, Foxlake Adventures in Haddington could be right up your street! I came across the website by chance the other week, and have only just realised what I’ve been missing out on.

And now that the weather is warming up, now is the perfect time to get down to Scotland’s first wakeboard park and find out for yourself what all the fuss is about!

Wakeboarding

First and foremost, Foxlake is known for its cable wakeboarding – and if you’ve never heard of wakeboarding before, you soon will. Also known as the world’s fastest growing watersport, it uses a cable to pull you along the surface of a lake while you balance on a board. Think of it as sort of like a cross between surfing and snowboarding.

If you’re curious about what wakeboarding looks like, check out this video below:

Foxfall ropes course

If ropes are more your thing, you’re in for a treat with the Foxfall ropes course! And it’s unlike any other you’ll find in the UK, with no need for a safety harness. Foxfall describes this course as “the ultimate test of skill, balance and willpower.”

There are two different coloured runs (green and red) depending on the difficulty level you choose, and the main aim of the course is to try to make it to the zip tower without falling into the water below!

ReBoot Disk Golf

Ever heard of disk golf? It’s sort of like normal golf, but you’re playing with a type of frisbee (or disk) that you throw in the air with the aim of hitting a specific target. The aim is to traverse the course with the fewest numbers of throws – so you can see how it’s similar to a standard game of golf.

The Foxlake course seems a lot of fun for families, as well as those who want a more challenging experience, as again, there are two different coloured courses depending on difficulty level.

CrossFit East Rocks

Want a change from the same old tired gym routine? With acres of playground, and a focus on outdoors, CrossFit East Rocks is a gym like no other. As the website states: “There are no treadmills; no egos; just a great community.”

And with everything happening outdoors, there are no limits. Intrigued yet? You can check out the CrossFit website here.

Boardside Café

After all that activity, you’re going to need to refuel – just as well there’s a café, then! Even better, Boardside Café has won an award as ‘The Best Eaterie within a Visitor Attraction in East Lothian 2014’. There’s some great grub available, from breakfast all the way to top “posh nosh”, and with renowned hot chocolate and a state-of-the-art coffee machine, you’ll be sure to find something to tickle your tastebuds.

Conclusion

If you’re a fan of outdoor sports and activities with a difference, and you’re based near Haddington, Foxlake Adventures should be high on your to-do list this summer. Try your hand at wakeboarding, ReBoot Disk Golf, or the Foxfall ropes course before stopping for a bite to eat at the award-winning Boardside Café. Kids and grown-up kids will love it!
